DTE Energy Campus Enhancement – Detroit, MI

The DTE Energy Campus Enhancement project consisted of three structural phases: Phase 1 – Connector Bridge, Phase II – Town Square; Phase III – Walker Cisler Building Lobby.

The 500 foot long elevated connector link between the MGM Grand Casino parking structure and the DTW Service Building includes a 100’ clear span over 3rd Avenue.

The Town Square is a new 30,000 SF open gathering area. The existing open gathering area was enclosed with a clear span sloping roof, bearing on the existing structure.

The Walker Cisler Building Lobby is the new main entrance lobby and conference facility. The 60’ high lobby roof is attached to the front of the existing 24-story Walker Cisler Building and cantilevers over the canted columns. To open up the space, a portion of the second floor slab and beam system was removed, affecting the lateral load resisting moment frame system of the tower. To supplement DTE’s conference facility, the main conference room was cantilevered out 30’ into the lobby space.

All phases of the project required interface between the existing campus buildings and the new structures.
