DMC – Harper University Hospital Surgical Renovations – Detroit, MI

The project involves renovations and construction of six (6) surgery rooms on the existing floor, constructed over a basement space. Desai/Nasr’s challenge was to reinforce the existing second floor structure above to accommodate lighting and surgical booms, which require stringent design criteria related to deflection and rotation of supporting members. Due to the presence of existing MEP systems within the ceiling space, Desai/Nasr conducted extensive field investigation and coordinated existing system reinforcement to ensure that the structural reinforcement can be installed without any delays.

Desai/Nasr utilized REVIT/BIM Modeling in the development of documents to resolve system conflict.
