ATHANACIOS NASR, PhD, PE, SECB
Nasr received his Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from the University of Alexandria, Egypt in June, 1974. In March, 1980, he completed his Master of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering, also from the University of Alexandria, Egypt. In April, 1986, he received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan.
Since 1974 Nasr has been involved in Academia on a part time basis for universities throughout the world, including University of Alexandria, Egypt (Instructor 1975-1980), Wayne State University, Detroit, MI (Instructor 1981-1986), University of Detroit, Detroit, MI (Adjunct Professor 1987-1989), University of Windsor, Windsor, Ontario, Canada (Post Doctor Fellow 1987-1989), and Lawrence Technological University, Southfield, Michigan (Adjunct Professor 1992-2000). He has taught graduate and undergraduate courses, including theory of structures, steel design, concrete design, foundation design, geotechnical engineering, surveying and engineering drafting.
Nasr is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineering and the Egyptian Institute of Civil Engineering He is a Certified Structural Engineer (SECB). Nasr’s many accomplishments include being honored with the induction into Wayne State University’s Engineering Hall of Fame, being named Best Teaching Assistant by the Civil Engineering Department of Wayne State University for 1982-1983, and receiving the Alexandria University Scholarship during his undergraduate program from 1969-1974.
