ALEXANDER LAMB, PhD
Alex has been with Desai/Nasr Consulting Engineers since 2015. He is responsible for the analysis and design of steel, timber, and concrete/masonry building and bridge structures. Alex has expertise in continuum mechanics, elastic stability mechanics, and composite mechanics which allows him to address out of the ordinary structural engineering problems with the necessary level of accuracy and resolution to assure safety and performance.
Alex earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, in 2014. He has publications in the structural stability and reliability fields, and has been recognized for his contributions to the companion text book of the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, “Bridge Design and Evaluation: LRFD and LRFR.” Since 2012 Alex has been an Adjunct Professor of Civil Engineering at Wayne State University, where he has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in steel design and bridge design. During his time as a research assistant at Wayne State, he instrumented several composite deck bridges, worked with weigh in motion truck data for load factor development, worked on the development of magnesium oxide cements, and worked on FRP strengthening and environmental degradation characterization, to name a few. He is a member of the engineering honor societies Chi Epsilon, and Tau Beta Pi, and in 2008 founded the Concrete Canoe Team at Wayne State University.
